As writers, we are members of several communities. We are active in arts groups, school groups, critique groups, and thousands of other groups to advance our wordsmithing skills and our writing careers. We're also members of living area communities -- from small home towns to busy city neighborhoods.
River Canyon Press has pledged to help our authors support their art and living area communities. Some past activities have included book donations to local libraries and schools, gifting titles to organizations for auctions, and arranging resume writing workshops at local employment offices.
As a company, we've also chosen a printing service located in the United States -- unlike many other small presses, all of our titles are printed in the U. S. A. We also have pursued energy-saving production processes with a revolutionary print on demand publishing model -- eliminating unnecessary shipping costs and overruns that can end up as dead stock.
Our authors can also choose to participate in our very own Ten Percent Title Program, pledging a ten percent community investment from sale profits. For example, if an author book royalty is $100, the author pledges $10 in service or goods to their chosen community. Through this honor system and with self-reporting of community efforts, as a company and as writers we are striving to give back to those groups and places that have helped us succeed.
