New name. New venue. Same great event.
Popular Marriage and Relationship Author Headlined 2010 Book and Author Fair
ASHLAND, Oregon (November 26, 2010) - What began several years ago as a collection of
Southern Oregon authors selling their titles street-side in downtown Ashland has grown to a destination event for authors and book buyers alike -- even garnering a nationally recognized marriage and relationship author for the Featured Author position. Each year attending authors submit their nominations for the Featured Author. This year, Ashland author Jennifer Margulis suggested popular blog author and professional writer Alisa
Bowman. A former health and fitness editor for Runner's World magazine, Bowman has developed her writing talents to add ghosting and co-writing to her list of accomplishments. She has been a contributing author or co-author on several NYT bestsellers, including, "The Mind Body Diabetes Revolution," "Stop Aging, Start Living" and "Back to Life After a Heart Crisis." Recently her popularity grew with the success of her marriage and relationship blog, resulting in appearances on Ask Dr. Manny Fox, Discovery Health, The 10! Show and Fox News New York. She traveled from her home
in Pennsylvania to attend the Ashland event, and promoted her upcoming
book, "Project: Happily Ever After" while she was in the Pacific
Northwest. In an Author's Gathering the evening before the Fair, Mrs. Bowman gave a frank, candid, and uplifting talk to the authors in attendance. She outlined her own efforts to become published under her own name, discussed the importance of self-promotion and branding, and encouraged all attendees to continue to write and reach for their goals.
While the Southern Oregon Book and Author Fair had humble beginnings, the event continues to promote and welcome well known writers as well as
regional or first-time authors as it grows. Current director and Roseburg-area author Trisha Barnes saw Bowman's role as the Featured Author as more than just an opportunity for a buyer meet and greet. "We're very excited to welcome Alisa Bowman to our fair," said Barnes. "While her work will be a draw for book buyers and holiday shoppers, she'll also bring her professional success and industry experience to our group of authors. It's a definite win-win and helps us to continue to expand our event to a national level."The Southern Oregon Book and Author Fair was held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 in the Conservatory and Ballroom of the historic Ashland Springs Hotel in Ashland, Oregon.
